Manages individualized, goal‑directed nursing care through the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Charge Nurse responsibilities as assigned.

• Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
• Develops, discusses, and communicates a plan of care in collaboration with each patient, family, or significant other to address all identified needs.
• Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement the medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for patient care.
• Evaluates identified problems, care provided, and patient responses, reassessing to meet patient and family needs and ensure overall quality of care delivered.
• Maintains up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care to integrate information for use by the healthcare team, ensuring quality care.
• Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure, pursuing professional growth and development.
• Functions as a role model for current and new staff.
• Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Peri‑operative Services division as defined in the scope of service to ensure patient safety.
• Assists licensed and non‑licensed personnel in patient care as needed.
• Attends all required safety training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, departmental or service safety, and specific job‑related hazards.
• Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens.
• Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and colleagues to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
• Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team to facilitate meeting departmental goals and objectives.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Complete annual education requirements.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Report to work on time and as scheduled.
• Wear identification while on duty.
• Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.
• Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
• Comply with all organizational policies.
• Conduct oneself as a professional in accordance with PRIDE values.
• Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
• Attend regular staff meetings and in‑services.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Iowa State Registered Nurse License.
• ACLs, PALS, BLS, PEARS.
