Sales & Service Technician (Central Office)

Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair central office and subscriber carrier equipment, PBX’s, key systems, paging equipment, and outside plant (cable/fiber) equipment that we sell.

• Install and maintain central office equipment to meet customer and company standards.
• Place buried and underground plant, service drops, and perform preventive maintenance on cable/fiber.
• Install, maintain and repair special service equipment including GDSL, AFC, DSL, SDSL, CKT voice mail, POTS, specials, DACS, fiber terminals, video switch/codec, T1/DS3, carrier, HDSL and router equipment.
• Input service orders into switches and modify tables and switch translations.
• Read and interpret service orders, trouble tickets, circuit diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Coordinate with outside plant workforce and other departments as needed.
• Research trouble tickets involving cable problems and support promotion of company products and services.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Minimum 5 years telecommunications experience including 3 years in central office.
• Proficient installing, maintaining, repairing central office equipment, PBX, key systems, pager systems, cable/fiber and special services equipment.
• Experience splicing 100 pr and above.
• Successful completion of 2‑year post‑high‑school training in electronics, telecommunications or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Basic electronics/digital electronics training.
• Basic PC skills and ability to retrieve data.
• Good oral and written communication.
• Valid CDL and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

• Work aloft from a ladder.
• Work in confined spaces and isolated areas.
• Distinguish colors.
• Lift up to 70 lbs.
• Work outside in extreme conditions including inclement weather.
• Sit and/or stand for extended periods on a regular basis.
• Flexible scheduling, holidays, after hours, call‑outs / weekend work and emergency situations (7x24).
• Saturday coverage in rotation with I&M group.
