Responsibilities

Texoma Medical Center, a 414-bed acute care facility has been providing quality health care to the residents of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1965. Our main campus is located in Denison, Texas, approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border. Perform routine phlebotomy procedures. Assist in clerical duties, processing of outpatient specimens, restocking, cleaning work areas, inventory assessment and performing testing procedures described as "waived" testing and moderately complex testing.

High School Diploma/GED, or highest level of education. Preferred Bachelor's or Associate of Science.

Reading and numerical competency. Training and certification from an accredited phlebotomy program preferred.

One year of recent phlebotomy experience or completion of an MLT/Phlebotomy program.

ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathology) certified as a Phlebotomist desired, but not required.

Ability to learn computer system and computerized lab equipment. Demonstrates knowledge and exhibits skills in obtaining laboratory specimens from all age groups. Must have moderate complex testing after initial training and assessment at six months. Expectation that you can perform both waived and moderate complexity testing using Point of Care devices during code blue/trauma, or as needed in other areas. Must work well with people and maintain confidentiality.
