The Medical Assistant position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties, which include:

  • Assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Interviewing patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture, and procedures as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State.
  • Recording documentation in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines.
  • Preparing treatment rooms for the examination of patients.
  • Assisting in covering the front desk as required.

Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics which align with UHS acute care facilities. It also provides select services for the Behavioral Health division of UHS. Through continuing growth, IPM operates in 11 markets across six states and the District of Columbia.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Medical Assistant certificate preferred.

Current BLS/CPR certification required

Work experience:

Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant

Familiarity with medical terminology required

Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol)

Knowledge:

General medical office procedures

Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol)

Skills:

Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office
