Responsibilities
Our experienced team of physicians is dedicated to caring for all members of the family at every stage of life. Texoma Care is comprised of primary care physicians and a variety of specialists in nine local communities. Working with Texoma Care means you will work with a care team of physicians, advanced practitioners, and staff providing compassionate and quality care. Texoma Medical Center is a 414‑bed acute care facility located in Denison, Texas, approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border.
The Medical Assistant position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties, which include:
- Assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
- Interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture, and other procedures as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State.
- Recording documentation in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines.
- Preparing treatment rooms for the examination of patients.
- Assisting in covering the front desk as required.
Independence Physician Management (IPM) is a subsidiary of UHS that manages multi‑specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics aligned with UHS acute care facilities.
QualificationsEducation:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Medical Assistant certificate preferred.
Certification: Current BLS/CPR certification required.
Work Experience: Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant; familiarity with medical terminology; experience with patient check‑in and check‑out process per clinic protocol.
Knowledge: General medical office procedures; understanding of end‑of‑day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process per clinic protocol.
Skills: Proficiency in basic computer programs (Microsoft Office); excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Abilities: Perform courteously and professionally in all interactions.
Equipment Operated: Fax machine, copier, telephone system, EKG machine, and other patient‑care testing equipment.
Work Environment: Works in a well‑lit, OSHA‑standard environment; may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases; may be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances; may be subject to irregular hours; may be required to wear PPE as necessary.

Ability to handle emergency or crisis situations; able to see with corrective eyewear; able to hear clearly with assistance.
