The LVN/LPN - General Surgery - position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties, which include:
- Assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
- Interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height); venipuncture, and procedure as directed by the physician.
- Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with the IPM guideline.
- Prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. Assists in covering the front desk as required.
- Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.
- Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. Refers to and consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.
- Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics that align with UHS acute care facilities. QualificationsEducation: Completion of LPN/LVN nursing training from an accredited school of nursing. Minimum of one (1) year of college or Technical School. Associate's Degree preferred.
Current BLS/CPR certification required
Current state-registered license for LPN/LVN
Work experience: Minimum of one (1) year working as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse required.
