Position: REGISTERED NURSE (RN) TRAUMA REGISTRAR

Texoma Medical Center, a 414‑bed acute care facility, has been providing quality health care to the residents of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1965. The main campus is located in Denison, Texas, approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border. We provide major specialty services including open heart surgery and neurosurgery, and advanced resources such as certified trauma care support our role as a regional specialty center.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Requirements:

  • The Trauma Registrar will maintain the efficient operation of the Trauma Patient Registry, ensuring consistency and quality in data collection, abstracting, coding, and entering information into the trauma database, and retrieving data for quality assurance purposes.
  • Exhibits proficiency in data management, aggregation, and analysis.
  • Remains compliant with State of Texas Trauma System requests for data.
  • Works closely with the Trauma Performance Analyst Outreach Coordinator and Trauma Program Manager.
  • Current Texas nursing license or compact license.
  • RQI BLS required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines and all required Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Healthcare Provider courses will be provided during new hire orientation or upon transfer and must be completed prior to working in a clinical setting.
  • Three years RN, Risk Management or Quality experience required.
  • Experience in or active involvement in system‑wide/multi‑disciplinary committees or projects.
  • Completion of coursework in injury severity scaling (e.g., Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine) and completion of a trauma registrar course (e.g., American Trauma Society or DSHS equivalent) within 12 months of hire.
  • Possesses initiative and is self‑directed to accomplish goals in concert with organizational objectives.
  • Knowledge of and experience with chart abstraction and coding.
  • Analytical skills necessary to gather and analyze data, prepare reports, and recommend appropriate action plans.
  • Intermediate level skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and other computer programs desirable.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must successfully pass any pre‑employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
  • Must be able to identify and competently address the needs of populations served.
