Run errands with a blind veteran in South Dennis
Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (MABVI) offers a variety of services to the blind and low vision community. In our COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER PROGRAM, volunteers work one-to-one with visually impaired adults, assisting with reading, shopping, and other daily tasks. We currently have a need for volunteers in the Boston region who can travel 10-15 miles.
We are seeking a volunteer to help a participant run errands in South Dennis, MA. A car is required. The volunteer would provide assistance once a week or bi-monthly.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Reading mail
- Paying bills
- Internet use/technology support
- Medical transportation
- Grocery shopping
- Running errands in the community
- Recreational activities such as being a running/walking sighted guide
- Other clerical tasks
Time Commitment
Volunteers typically donate 1-2 hours per week or every other week, flexible based on the participant’s needs.
Volunteer Onboarding Process
- Complete a MABVI Volunteer application
- Complete the online, modular MABVI Volunteer Training
- Schedule a Zoom call with a MABVI Volunteer Team member or submit a CORI
- Meet the MABVI Volunteer Team via Zoom or phone
- MABVI matches you with a participant
