Kennel Assistant

Position

Full‑time Kennel Assistant – Dennis, MA. Salary $17–$21/hr.

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists (CCVS) is a growing specialty and emergency‑critical care hospital serving the Cape Cod and Islands community. CCVS has more than 20 specialists across nine services and is committed to providing quality, gold‑standard medical care for pets.

• Assist the client care team by answering telephones and helping callers with questions, emergencies, or any need they may have.
• Admit and discharge patients to the hospital efficiently while maintaining the hospital flow.
• Restrain pets for medical treatments and diagnostics according to doctor orders.
• Ensure treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs are clean, stocked, and organized to prepare for incoming patients.
• Assist with radiographs and ultrasounds.
• Disinfect pet cages after use.
• Perform in‑house blood work using the appropriate lab machines and prepare samples for outside lab processing.
• Launder and restock patient bedding using proper cleaning protocols and maintain hospital cleanliness.
• Be willing to cross‑train in other areas when necessary.

Required

• Ability to lift and restrain pets of at least 50 pounds.
• Work on your feet for most of the day.
• Learn various veterinary software programs effectively.
• Balance and prioritize multiple tasks appropriately.
• Attention to detail to provide high patient care.
• Confidence in oneself, in team abilities, and in communication.
• Excellent clear communication skills.
• Professional, pleasant, and engaged demeanor.
• Respect for referring veterinarians, clients, and coworkers.

Preferred

• Associate degree in veterinary technology or certificate from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program.
