Game Designer Intern Roblox

We’re looking for a curious and creative Game Design Intern to join our Ideation team and help us discover the next generation of Roblox hits.

If you spend your free time exploring new Roblox experiences, mobile games, Steam releases, Tik Tok trends, or viral indie games, this role is for you.

Your mission will be simple:
find great ideas before everyone else.

You’ll analyze the gaming market, identify emerging trends, understand why games succeed, and turn those insights into original Roblox concepts with strong business potential.

You’ll work closely with Game Designers, Product teams, and Market Analysts to help shape the future of our game portfolio.

• Monitor Roblox, mobile, Steam, and other gaming platforms to identify emerging trends.
• Research successful games and break down why they perform well.
• Stay up to date with social media trends (Tik Tok, You Tube, etc.) that influence game discovery.

• Generate new Roblox game concepts inspired by market opportunities.
• Adapt successful mechanics from other platforms into unique Roblox experiences.
• Pitch ideas through concise concept documents and presentations.

• Evaluate ideas based on market size, development cost, monetization, retention, and scalability.
• Identify opportunities for innovation while keeping production realistic.

• Create Game Design Documents (GDDs) for selected concepts.
• Design core gameplay loops, progression systems, economies, and player motivations.
• Collaborate with designers to refine concepts before production.

• Work with Game Designers, Market Analysts, and Producers during the ideation process.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and concept reviews.

• Passion for Roblox and the gaming industry.
• Constant curiosity about new games and market trends.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand why games succeed.
• Creativity combined with business thinking.
• Good understanding of free-to-play and player motivation.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly through documents and presentations.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Experience creating Roblox games or prototypes.
• Experience writing Game Design Documents.
• Knowledge of mobile free-to-play games.
• Personal projects, game jams, or indie development experience.
• Familiarity with analytics, retention, or monetization systems.
