Department SummaryThe Division of Composition Studies is one of eight divisions in the College of Music. The Division of Composition serves approximately 70 majors with nine faculty representing a variety of compositional aesthetics and approaches. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position OverviewTeaching assignment is for the Spring 2026 semester only. Teaching includes an orchestration course, private composition lessons at all levels (undergrad and grad, major and non-major), and possibly an additional advanced composition course.
Minimum QualificationsDoctorate in composition; previous teaching experience in composition at the collegiate level.
Preferred Qualifications- Significant teaching experience in composition at the undergraduate and graduate level;
- Experience teaching instrumentation/orchestration;
- Consistent record of professional activity as a composer;
