Department Summary

The Department of Biological Sciences, one of four departments in the College of Science, has over 40 faculty, 175 graduate and 3,000 undergraduate students. Our faculty is a community of scholars dedicated to research and teaching in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, Plant Biology, and Organismal environment interactions. We offer Bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Biochemistry, Ecology, Medical Laboratory Science, and Forensic Science, and Master’s and PhDs in Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Environmental Science.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Overview

The Department of Biological Sciences seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 semesters. The specific courses available vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs, sufficient student enrollment, and dean approval.

As professional part‑time faculty, Adjunct Instructors plan classes, implement learning objectives, evaluate student learning outcomes, and adhere to college, departmental, and division responsibilities, including holding regular office hours.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with 18 advanced/graduate hours in an area of Biological Sciences relevant to the course assignment(s).
  • Demonstrated college teaching experience required.
  • Requirement(s) may differ for specialty course(s).
