Department Summary

The Division of Vocal Studies has fourteen full-time faculty, one adjunct faculty, and eight graduate teaching fellows. There are over 80 students pursuing Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral of Musical Arts degrees in vocal performance. Additionally, the Division of Vocal Studies serves over 100 music majors with voice as their concentration who are pursuing degrees in Music Education, Music Composition, Music History, Music Theory and Jazz Studies.

Secondary lessons are available for music majors with other concentrations, as well as other majors across campus. Faculty of the Division of Vocal Studies teach Applied Lessons, Vocal Pedagogy, English Diction, French Diction, German Diction, Italian Diction, Vocal Literature, Collaborative Piano, Class Voice, and are responsible for UNT Opera productions.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

The Department of Vocal Studies seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2025, Spring 2026 and Summer 2026 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.
The anticipated need is for Applied Voice Lessons, courses in Lyric Diction, and/or Operatic or Vocal Literature.

Minimum Qualifications

Master of Music in vocal performance; professional experience as a vocal soloist.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive experience as a professional vocal soloist, experience teaching at the college/university level.
