Department Summary
The Educator Preparation Program at UNT prepares future teachers through field-based learning, culminating in supervised clinical teaching in EC-12 classrooms. The College of Education Clinical Practice Office partners with districts to provide field-based opportunities for students seeking initial certification. We value diversity and welcome candidates with experience in HSI/MSIs and/or who speak languages such as Spanish, Vietnamese, ASL, Chinese, Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or Yoruba.
Position Overview
The Department of Education-Ed Prep seeks Site Coordinators to serve as liaisons between public school districts and the COE Clinical Experiences Director. Work schedules vary based on assignment.
Core Responsibilities
- Attend Ed Prep Trainings (online and in-person)
- Partner with the Field Supervisor to ensure student success
- Schedule and lead Host Teacher Orientations/Trainings
- Schedule and lead Governance Meetings
- Conduct weekly Test Prep sessions on campus (Fall only)
- Perform informal observations in Fall and Spring
- Facilitate Quad Meetings in Fall and Spring
- Hold check-in meetings with the Director of Clinical Experiences
Other Responsibilities May Include
- Attend UNT COE Ed Prep Programs
- Observe Teacher Candidates
- Participate in Clinical Student Seminars
Skills Required
- Effective communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Watermark
Travel Required
- Yes - varies based on assignment
Reports To
- Director of Clinical Experiences
Communication Guidance
Site Coordinators should primarily communicate with host teachers and UNT students. Any concerns involving campus administrators or district HR should be directed through the Director of Clinical Experiences.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in education or related field
- Experience supervising teacher candidates in Texas
- At least three years of successful classroom teaching in EC-12
- Ability to use online communication and learning management tools effectively
- Willingness to hold or currently possess a valid TX teaching certificate
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous elementary teaching or administrative experience
- Certifications in Elementary Bilingual, SpEd, ESL, or as a principal
- T-TESS training
