Department SummaryUNT’s Jazz Studies program is widely regarded as one of the nation’s most respected and was the first jazz degree program of its kind in the field.
Our faculty members are dedicated teachers as well as nationally and internationally known performers. They’ve earned Grammy Award nominations, toured internationally, conducted classes at the renowned Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops, and written books about jazz. We provide you many opportunities to perform with on- and off-campus ensembles. This includes the One O’Clock Lab Band, which has earned six Grammy Award nominations and toured Europe, Japan, Thailand, and Australia.

The Division of Jazz Studies seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Spring 2026 semester. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester, and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs. The anticipated need is to teach one combined class (undergraduate and graduate students) in Music Law and Finance, to cover topics including the basics of music law, music copyright issues, contract negotiation, funding opportunities, and financial management for music businesses and ventures.
This is a remote teaching position, but applicants must be residents of the state of Texas.
Bachelor’s degree in any major, followed by a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
