- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program (preferred). Associate’s Degree preferred.
- 1 year clinical experience in mammography (preferred); meet the mammography requirements as stated in Federal Register for MQSA in Final Rules, Part 900.12(a)(2).
- ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Mammography upon hire required.
- CMRT – Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (TDH or TMB) upon hire required.
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
- Perform mammograms and diagnostic radiographs.
- Produce quality images in mammography per American College of Radiology guidelines.
- Possess standard and advanced positioning skills.
- Mammography:
Phantom images, visual inspections, compression checks, screen contract, peer reviews, monthly checklist for all mammography units. - Notify the physicist of any repairs to mammography units as needed.
- Maintain logs, preventative maintenance and physicist surveys for all X‑ray equipment.
- Accurately enter patient data in RIS for tracking and billing.
- Present patient case history and images to radiologists for review by pulling images from PACS and hanging analog films on multiviewers as needed.
- Meet or exceed continuing education requirements for mammography and diagnostic radiology per Texas Department of Health, American College of Health, American College of Radiology and FDA/MQSA guidelines.
- Verify patient with two identifiers.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and inspect, report any malfunctions.
- Respond to emergency situations appropriately.
