The Senior Manager of Public Relations & Partnerships is responsible for the development and implementation of Sally Beauty’s public relations strategy—built to drive positive earned media coverage, brand awareness, community building, and new customer acquisition. This includes traditional public relations efforts along with the strategic management of partnerships, sponsor ships, and events (consumer and press facing). The Senior Manager will oversee the implementation of data‑driven strategies supporting priority campaigns, key product/brand launches, seasonal/cultural relevancy, Sally Expert ambassadors, and more, with a keen understanding of the competitive retail landscape.
This role also manages agency relationships to ensure cohesive cross‑channel support of public relations initiatives.
This position is hybrid and will require 3 days in office starting in early 2026 when Sally Beauty’s new headquarters is complete in Legacy West (Plano, TX).

Primary Responsibilities- Oversee external public relations agency and subsequent partners to bring Sally Beauty’s public relations strategy to life in alignment with brand voice and business priorities. Serve as the key liaison between public relations agency and internal stakeholders.
- As the strategic owner, use consumer insights, financial acumen, seasonality, competitive landscape, and business priorities to inform consistent public relations plans.
- Lead day‑to‑day public relations efforts with support from two direct reports: earned media outreach, interview requests, talking points, press releases, external brand communications, PR‑first brand campaigns, new product/brand launches, Sally Expert ambassador management, events (consumer/press facing), partnerships, and sponsor ships.
- Maintain strong attention to detail and timely responsiveness while remaining creative and in tune with the beauty industry and public relations best practices.
- High‑visibility role with senior leadership requiring professionalism and strong communication skills to ensure timely feedback, approval, influence management, and in‑the‑moment problem‑solving.
- Oversee the execution of best‑in‑class PR campaigns and events from start to finish while remaining on time and within budget. Lead hindsight efforts while measuring success to inform future strategic planning.
- Oversee public relations reporting on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure KPIs are met in a timely manner and data is used to inform future growth and efficiencies.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure PR efforts, events, and partnerships are supported across channels in a clear and consistent manner.
- Oversee the management of Sally Expert brand ambassador contracts and day‑to‑day support, inclusive of photo shoots, daily PR commentary, content creation, product needs, Sally Beauty‑related appearances, and more.
- Manage two direct reports while providing development opportunities to foster career growth.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Advertising or a similar field.
- 7+ years of public relations experience in‑house or agency.
- Previous experience in the beauty and/or retail industry preferred.
- Beauty industry acumen and interest.
- Knowledge of media outlets, especially in the beauty space.
- Experience with agency management.
- Hybrid work environment (3 days in office).
- Some travel required.
- Experience mentoring and developing direct reports.
