Position Overview

The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of food service facilities on campus, ensuring a high standard of food quality, customer service, and operational efficiency. This role involves supervising and coordinating staff, maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards, and ensuring compliance with university policies, health codes, and safety regulations. The supervisor works to deliver a positive dining experience for students, faculty, and staff by upholding service excellence, managing inventory, and ensuring smooth operation of food service outlets.

The position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all campus community members.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent with two years of experience in institutional or commercial food preparation, including one year of supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions and direct and manage the work of others; work from written menus, standard recipes, and oral instructions; maintain records and complete forms accurately; apply mathematical concepts to tasks (e.g., checking orders for quantity); possess considerable knowledge of food preparation methods, health hazards, and precautionary measures; understand food values and menu planning; train personnel in equipment care and standard practices;

and implement safety and security precautions.

Job Duties
  • Ensure operational standards for food preparation, presentation, and safety are consistently met through managerial oversight.
  • Supervise staff to guarantee adherence to established procedures and full compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assess service quality and customer satisfaction through established checkpoints, upholding high standards for food quality and service.
  • Adhere to all University policies, health codes, and safety standards, regularly reviewing practices.
Physical Requirements

Communicating with others; lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds; performing repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Environmental Hazards

No adverse environmental conditions expected.
