Vehicle Modification Technician 3The Vehicle Modification Technician 3 is responsible to perform inspection, layout, fabrication and/or installation of new/modified Class 2-8 truck components. Duties may also include but are not limited to reconditioning and/or modification of components for current or revised applications, documentation for and/or following manuals and process documents; creation and updating of bills of materials and feedback to operations and engineering. This role is to provide seamless support with training the employees on the specialized work being completed including inspection, layout, fabrication and/or installation of new/modified Class 2-8 truck components for the assigned branch.

Responsibilities- Provides training and experience in the installation/modification, repair and inspection of Class 2-8 trucks to include chassis, engine and driveline, axles, steering, cooling system, cab, body and mounting; understanding of reasons for torque settings.
- Provides training and experience in the installation, repair and inspection of vehicle hydraulic pumps, motors and piping to include installation and testing of wet kits.
- Provides training and experience in the installation, repair and inspection of vehicle compressed air systems to include vehicle braking; related fail-safe systems and proper installation of lines and reservoirs.
- Provides training and experience in the vehicle control, starting, charging, and lighting systems and circuits. Background knowledge permits learning to perform chassis, brake, engine and drivetrain diagnostics.
- Fits and installs steel and aluminum panels, accessories and fenders using shears, snips, cutoff tools, rivets and fasteners with minimal guidance.
- Installation of compressed natural gas fuel systems.
- Supports the preparation process to welding by others.
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) preferred.
- 2 years' of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Texas Railroad Commission CNG certification preferred.
- Valid Commercial Drivers License preferred.
- Must be insurable.
Skills and Abilities
Required
- Ability to follow instructions and/or prints and avoid deviations or other undocumented variations to the design.
- Document work performed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Demonstrate high level of proficiency and cost effectiveness in completion of work product in order to minimize re-work and time delays in final projects being provided to customers and dealerships.
- Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk.
- Must demonstrate positive corporate citizenship and the Rush Driving Principles.
