Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Journeyman Field Mechanic

• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test their performance. Looks for maintenance issues that may need repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance, operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Repairs electrical equipment.
• Looks for maintenance issues needing repairs.
• Performs miscellaneous welding, cutting and fabrication as needed.

Competencies Able to properly use diagnostic equipment and work on distribution / transmission equipment Terax / Altec type of utility work in the area including all support equipment than will need repairs. Be able to complete work orders and site doc daily and strong diagnostics is a plus.

Education and/or Experience High School/GED or 5 years mechanical experience. Utility and Transmission Experience needed.

Computer Skills Diagnostic equipment proficiency

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Confined Space Training
