- The program is a hands‑on training designed to prepare individuals to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks in a fast‑paced bakery environment.
- Apprentices will develop electrical and mechanical skills to support the production technician in maintaining an efficient operation.
- To be considered for full‑time employment, apprentices must obtain or be capable of acquiring the licenses required by the city or state for boilers, refrigeration, and related equipment.
- Apprentices must have the aptitude and desire for continued training due to ongoing technological improvements.
- Apprentices must commit to at least 20 hours per week on the job while attending in‑school instruction, and may be required to work additional hours during school holidays.
- Apprentices must be flexible and adaptable, learning and performing job assignments throughout the facility.
- Apprentices are responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for themselves and co‑workers.
- Apprentices must be proficient in Enterprise software for data input, retrieval, reporting, and other functions.
- Apprentices must demonstrate competency for all on‑the‑job activities that may affect product safety, legality, and/or quality.
- Apprentices must act as a member of a highly functioning team and comply with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes–Oxley, etc.).
- Apprentices will perform other duties deemed essential by management, including adhering to schedules, attendance policies, and operating rules.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
- Respond to and correct equipment stoppage/malfunction.
- Troubleshoot and repair or replace worn or defective parts, motors, controls, and devices.
- Operate machine shop equipment, hand tools, and power tools; manufacture required parts as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
- Practice and comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and work rules.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervision.
The apprenticeship program is a hands‑on training path that teaches the knowledge and skills needed to progress as an engineering technician at any Flowers facility. Relocation may be required.
Essential Qualifications- Completion of or enrollment in a curriculum of approximately 40 hours of industrial maintenance with an additional 9 hours of PLC training.
