Responsibilities- Perform advanced HVAC work at State Supported Living Center – install, adjust, inspect, maintain, repair, and restore chilled water systems, direct exchange systems, refrigerated systems, and heating systems.
- Schedule and supervise HVAC projects and coordinate long‑term maintenance and renovation projects.
- Assign, prioritize, and lead the work of HVAC technicians to accomplish daily and weekly tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment performance and work completed.
- Assist in air quality sampling and monitor controls, temperatures, humidity, and energy consumption.
- Coordinate parts and material acquisition requirements.
- Operate motorized vehicles, make deliveries, and pick up supplies as needed.
- Work some weekend and after‑hours callouts as required to ensure safe facility operations.
- At least 12 months of experience as an HVAC mechanic or technician.
- Experience in commercial HVAC system, diagnosing malfunctions, installations, and repairs.
- Experience using HVAC tools and equipment; working from blueprints or sketches.
- Associate degree in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration preferred.
- Valid Texas driver’s license;
Texas driver’s license within 90 days of hire. - EPA Section 608 Technician Certification required; R410A certification preferred.
- North American Technician Excellence (NATE) or HVAC Excellence certifications preferred.
- Ability to perform labor‑intensive work; standing, bending, walking, lifting 50‑100 pounds.
- Ability to work in hot and/or cold conditions and in cramped spaces.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to teach and train others on HVAC equipment and tools.
- Oversee installation, adjustments, alterations, inspections, maintenance, repairs, and restoration of HVAC systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and monitor energy efficiency.
- Develop long‑range HVAC maintenance and upgrade plans.
- Monitor environmental control systems and troubleshoot equipment.
- Train and supervise HVAC technicians.
- Maintain accurate records and coordinate parts and materials.
Skills and Abilities

- Effective communication orally and written.
- Basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to perform labor‑intensive work, most of the work day standing, bending, walking, lifting 50‑100 lbs.
- Ability to lead the work of others and teach/train others to safely use HVAC equipment and tools.
- Ability to work harmoniously and productively with co‑workers and residents.
