Role Overview: Responsible for providing information and publicity for intercollegiate athletics programs. Serve as communications and public relations contact for student-athletes, coaches and administrators for external constituents. Actively promote and publicize key messages while cultivating relationships with local, regional and national media.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
Job Duties:
- Identifies and implements new and creative strategic communications plans for athletics department.
- Coordinates media operations for all home events from assigned sports including, but not limited to reporting results of all games and making sure home event runs efficiently and effectively.
- Assists other members of communications staff with media operations for other events, as needed. Including, but not limited to reporting results of home and away contests and making sure home events run efficiently and effectively.
- Fulfills media requests for interviews and information in thorough and timely manner and develops positive relationships with local, regional and national media.
- Uses social media effectively to help promote athletics department.
- Produces press releases for selected sports efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Complies with deadlines established by governing bodies for information and award nominations in a timely and thorough manner.
- Complies current statistics for selected sports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Works with other units in athletic department to help accomplish common goals.
Physical Requirements: Communicating with others to exchange information.
Lifting and moving objects up to 100 pounds or more.
Environmental Hazards: Elevated temperatures. Low temperatures. Noisy environments. Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
Work Schedule: Varies based on season and assigned sports.
Driving University Vehicle: Yes
