. The firm is a national leader in outsourced accounting for nonprofit organizations and is currently expanding its team of experienced Controllers.

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, personable, hands‑on Controller who can provide transformative accounting services to multiple non‑profit clients, both virtually and on‑site. The Controller will interact with clients, their staff, Board of Directors, and Finance Committees on a regular basis.

Responsibilities
  • Transform nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission.
  • Prepare financial reporting for management and Board decision‑making and presentations.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, compliance policies and procedures; support client strategy and best practices.
  • Perform transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable (revenue recognition and billing), payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month‑end close, and maintain work papers.
  • Analyze and visualize data, produce budgeting and forecasting reports.
  • Manage grant allocations and funder reporting.
  • Prepare for and manage annual audit.
  • Provide client and staff training opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Passionate about working in or supporting nonprofit organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5–7 + years of accounting experience.
  • Experience working in a remote environment preferred.
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple clients, work independently, and respond in a timely manner.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with multiple general ledger packages, especially Quick Books and electronic bill‑pay systems.
  • Non‑profit accounting, public accounting, and/or consulting experience is a plus but not required.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Compensation

Starting hourly rate is $50–$65 per hour for this non‑exempt position. Total compensation may increase with overtime pay and eligibility for various bonuses. A professional development reimbursement and technology stipend are also provided annually. The base rate may vary based on education, skill, experience, licensure and certifications, internal salary ranges, geographical location, and other business needs.
