Staff Accountant

Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid)
Compensation: $65,000-$75,000 annually

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. In this role, you will support key accounting functions, contribute to accurate financial reporting, and play an important part in ongoing business and system initiatives, including a major ERP implementation.

This position offers a well-rounded blend of accounting responsibilities, including month-end close, general ledger accounting, fixed asset management, financial reporting support, and process improvement initiatives. You'll work closely with finance leadership and collaborate across the organization while helping drive operational excellence during an exciting period of growth and transformation.

Why Join Us?
  • Join a collaborative and supportive accounting team within a growing organization.
  • Enjoy a hybrid work environment with convenient access to Denver's light rail.
  • Gain valuable experience supporting a large-scale ERP implementation.
  • Work closely with finance leadership on high-visibility projects and initiatives.
  • Develop broad accounting experience across financial reporting, fixed assets, and process improvements.
  • Contribute to meaningful projects that help shape the future of our organization.
What You'll Do
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including:
    • Asset additions and disposals
    • Depreciation calculations
    • Asset tracking and maintenance
    • Monthly reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Provide documentation and support for internal and external audit requests.
  • Support accounts payable activities, including invoice coding and processing as needed.
  • Partner with accounting and finance leadership on special projects, system initiatives, and process improvement efforts.
  • Maintain accurate financial records while supporting ongoing operational and organizational changes.
What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • General ledger accounting
    • Accrual accounting
    • Month-end close processes
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Hands-on fixed asset accounting experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated approach with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a multi-entity or property-related accounting environment.
  • Exposure to financial statement preparation and audit support.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, implementations, or accounting process improvements.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and effectively in an evolving environment.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys both traditional accounting responsibilities and project-based work. Approximately half of the role focuses on month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting, while the remaining responsibilities center around fixed asset accounting and broader accounting support.

You'll have the opportunity to strengthen your technical accounting skills, gain exposure to a significant ERP implementation, and play an important role in supporting the organization's continued growth and success.
