Job Description

Entry-level administrative position, reports to senior staff for work delivery and performance to provide daily administrative support functions related to research operations under direct supervision. This position works closely with a team and provides administrative maintenance assistance to NREL’s South Table Mountain Campus in Golden, and the Flatirons Campus in Arvada.

Provide a wide range of administrative duties. Support of the laboratory’s Site Operations team by handling incoming and outgoing emails and phone calls. Answering, and properly directing questions as needed. Routing requests for service to the appropriate teams. Facilitate contractors coming onto campus to perform work. Coordinate conference room reservation requests and setups for meetings. Assist with coordination of maintenance and services for the campus’ fleet and motor equipment.

Assist in coordinating group shuttle reservations for tours around campuses. Process recharges for the Site Operations team. Assist the electrical team in placing fire panel systems off and online. Coordination of janitorial efforts for both campuses. Become a specialist with the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and act as a point of contact for questions and assistance with the system.

Follow all ESH&Q policies and procedures to ensure and maintain a safe working environment for employees and contractors.

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate’s Degree or certification program of comparable scope or equivalent relevant education/experience. Considerable knowledge of the job. Substantial understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job. Intermediate skills in applicable software packages and office equipment.

Basic project administration skills. Ability to prioritize work. Proficient written and verbal communication skills. Very good team and interpersonal skills.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)

Job Profile:
Specialist II / Annual Salary Range: $47,800 - $76,500
NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
