Administrative Assistant II (Tax and Public Finance)

Overview: The Revenue & Regulatory Law Section’s Tax & Public Finance Unit (TPF Unit) needs a highly detail‑oriented Administrative Assistant II to provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys, paralegals, and other staff. The role requires strong technical aptitude, superior organizational skills, and the ability to manage a wide variety of legal documents and case‑file information.

What You Will Do

This position will provide full administrative and legal support, including creating and producing correspondence, pleadings, and reports using a computerized word‑processing system; proofreading documents; assisting with hearing preparation and court‑filing; managing document archives; maintaining case‑status reports; entering case information in Prolaw; electronically filing with the court; making travel arrangements as needed; and ensuring urgent matters are promptly referred to the appropriate attorney.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of general clerical/office support experience as the primary function of the job.
  • OR a combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to two (2) years.

  • Experience in a similar role for the State of Colorado.

Conditions of Employment
  • Applicants must pass a thorough background investigation prior to appointment.
  • Applicants must pass a Colorado state income‑tax check and show no outstanding taxes for the past three years.
  • Colorado Department of Law participates in E‑Verify and will provide Form I‑9 information to confirm U.S. work authorization.
  • The position is expected to work in‑office 3 days per week with flexible arrangements subject to business needs.
Appeal Rights

Appeals must be submitted in writing to the State Personnel Board within ten (10) calendar days of notice or acknowledgement of the department’s action.
