Under the direction of the National Sales Director, the Senior Manager of Business Development is responsible for managing Business Developers across the firm; growing Wipfli’s professional services sales into target client segments and identifying and providing leads to the Firm’s industry resources as appropriate. The role allocates roughly 50 % of effort to managing direct reports and 50 % to direct sales activities in line with company policies and procedures.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Develop and execute an industry growth plan for Financial Services and its sub‑verticals, translating strategy into sales tactics.
- Support direct reports in identifying target lists and driving opportunities from lead generation to closing, following Wipfli’s Sales Methodology.
- Identify and pursue new business across consulting, technology, and accounting solutions.
- Coordinate collaboration between business developers and professionals during the sales process, guiding the Opportunity Pursuit Team.
- Model integration with industry groups, establishing productive working relationships.
- Build and maintain relationships with executives, referral sources, and key stakeholders to generate new opportunities.
- Represent Wipfli at conferences, networking events, and community engagements to enhance brand visibility.
- Activate sales channels and marketing campaigns to nurture leads and convert them into opportunities.
- Hold direct booking responsibility for the sales staff reporting to you.
- Achieve personal booking targets while adhering to Wipfli Sales Methodology.
- Provide regular updates on pipeline status, performance metrics, and progress toward growth goals.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years progressive sales experience with a solution‑oriented, consultative approach, including at least 5 years in a professional services firm.
- 5+ years proven success managing and scaling Business Development teams, driving consistent pipeline growth and booking attainment.
- Track record of personal booking attainment that meets or exceeds sales goals.
- Experience developing executive‑level relationships and selling complex solutions to organizations with $15 M–$500 M in revenue.
- Established network of C‑suite and senior decision‑makers, with capacity to leverage relationships for strategic growth.
- Strong technical product knowledge of assurance, tax, and consulting services.
- Business acumen enabling navigation of complex sales cycles and influence at the highest client organizational levels.
- Master of Business Administration.
- Active business community involvement.
- Prior experience selling Salesforce Financial Services Cloud, Creatio, BUSINESSNEXT, or other Financial Services CRM systems.

Wipfli values fair, transparent, and competitive compensation. The estimated base pay range for this role is $129,000 to $190,000
, typically not made at the maximum, with potential for future increases. Salary at offer time depends on factors such as location, skills, experience, training, licensure, certifications, business needs, and applicable employment laws.
Individuals may be eligible for a commission plan, subject to participation rules and based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual and firm performance.
