As a Water Distribution Supervisor, you will provide leadership and direction to assigned staff who operate and maintain the water distribution system. You will plan and schedule work, assess concerns related to quality, and make judgments under difficult circumstances. Your decisions will directly impact public health.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily work and projects, and provide detailed instruction and training in job duties and requirements, including the use of tools and equipment, SOPs, computers and software applications.
- Perform follow‑ups and inspections of operating and maintenance work to ensure appropriate job methods, tools, and equipment are applied.
- Utilize on‑job technology such as mobile computers/tablets, electronic timekeeping, CMMS, RDA, Project Tracker, and other devices.
- Conduct inspections, operate, and perform minor maintenance on equipment at distribution facilities, while coaching, training, and developing employees.
- Assist in developing standard operating procedures, emergency operation manuals, and facility inspection programs.
- Train staff on safety procedures, including confined space entry, hot work permits, lead paint, asbestos, excavation trenching, shoring, and other compliance methods.
- Mentor Leads/Acting Leads.
- Perform safety inspections to ensure construction and job sites comply with safety hazards.
- Carry out the department’s Safety program through daily job performance and attendance at scheduled safety meetings.
- May be required to perform on‑call duty, work shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to perform safety‑sensitive functions.
- Perform related work as required.
Hybrid – a minimum of two days in the office in the Denver Metro Area.
Hiring Range- Hourly: $47.44 – $53.76
- Full Pay Range: $41.49 – $63.92

Education and Experience- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 years of related work experience.
- Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities for the position.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record at the time of hire.
- This is a safety‑sensitive job where direct action or inaction may lead to immediate harm to self, team, or the public, or pose significant risk to Denver Water’s mission. Employees must possess English proficiency adequate to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.
An offer of employment may be contingent upon satisfactory results of a post‑offer drug and alcohol test. Denver Water tests for amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana (THC), opiates, PCP, and may conduct a strength test. Safety‑sensitive or CDL positions may be placed on the random drug and alcohol testing list during employment.
