Overview

The Foreman, in conjunction with the Superintendents, will handle the day-to-day Sitework activities of the construction site and supervise on-site, assigned employees, meet with inspectors, meet with and manage sub-contractors, coordinate schedules, and maintain a well-organized construction site with a safety conscious attitude.

Compensation

$85,900.00 to $ annually

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of assigned projects including specifications and scope requirements to ensure project is constructed according to intended design, quality and safety standards while maintaining budget and time goals.
  • Understand and apply project contract documents, plans, specifications, and RFIs.
  • Understand and apply OSHA and project safety requirements or concerns, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure all crew members practice safe behaviors, wear proper PPE and comply with all OSHA and project safety requirements.
  • Maintain and complete accurate project daily and weekly activity reports.
  • Recommend changes to project schedule in order to improve crew scheduling efficiencies, increase productivity, equipment and methods.
  • Ensure that each Subcontractor complies with all requirements and maintains project specifications.
  • Perform construction activities including, but not limited to, preparation (including calling for locates), operation, and closing of job site; proper testing of work completed.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment such as pick-up trucks, motor graders, front-end loaders, track type dozers, track type excavators, skid steers, and water trucks as required.
  • Demonstrate solid team leadership with direct reports and assist with their training and development. Be accessible to employees to address questions or concerns.
  • Gather and enter crew payroll time and verify accuracy and cost code.
  • Ensure crew and subcontractor clean up occurs on a daily and weekly basis.
Qualifications
  • Solid knowledge of heavy construction, including:
  • Experience operating a variety of heavy construction equipment (skid-steer, loader, excavator, blade, etc.) and the ability to train and correct others on the same.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand plan drawings, stakes, and grading.
  • Passion and skill for supervisory duties and engaging team members.
  • Patience and insight with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles.
  • Strong training capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members of the team, GCs, owners, contractors, inspectors and suppliers.
  • Superior problem-solving skills
  • Excellent project management skills, including:
  • Big picture understanding of construction projects, including budgets, timelines, prioritization, and milestones.
  • Ability to multi-task, coordinate, delegate and supervise project activities and staff.
  • Computer, writing, and organizational skills
  • Superior work ethic:
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and/or holidays as required to accommodate customer and project demands.
  • Ability to set the example of work ethic for the rest of the crew and lead from the front
Education and/or Experience
  • Required:
    At minimum a high school diploma or GED, willingness to learn, and trainability. 10 Hours OSHA Safety class within 30 days of assignment. Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner. Basic to intermediate computer skills to perform report
  • Preferred:
    Construction degree and 1 year of Supervisory experience or 3 or more years of Supervisory experience in the civil construction trade.
