Unique projects:
Ameri Corps members will be engaged with all construction programs at the affiliate including New Construction, renovations, Home Repairs, ADU’s, and aging in place.
As part of our New Construction Department, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver partners with the West Denver Renaissance Collaborative to build Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU’s). ADU’s are tiny homes that are built on the land of an existing low-income homeowner that chooses to partner with Habitat. These ADU’s prevent displacement of longtime homeowners by providing supplemental rental income to help pay rising property taxes that have become unaffordable for homeowners on a fixed income.

These ADU’s also provide opportunities for the families of the homeowners including more space for multi-generational families.
Additionally, as part of our Home Preservation team, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver also partners with the Colorado Visiting Nurses Association with the CAPABLE program (Community Aging in Place – Advancing Better Living for Elders). This program completes necessary home modifications for local seniors that are prescribed by an Occupational Therapist. After modifications are complete the OT teaches the homeowner how to use these new modifications in their home.

These essential modifications result in fewer falls and injuries…
