Denver Health is seeking a physician leader to serve as Medical Director of Urgent Care, overseeing one or more high-impact urgent care clinics within our integrated Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and safety-net hospital system. This role may include leadership at Peña Urgent Care, which serves a significant pediatric population.
This is an ideal role for an Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrician who wants to combine clinical practice, team leadership, and academic engagement—while making a meaningful difference for Denver’s most diverse and underserved communities.

The RoleAs Medical Director, you’ll balance hands‑on clinical care with clinic leadership and operational oversight, partnering closely with the Division Chief of Urgent Care.
Role mix (approximate):
- 60% Clinical Practice – Provide direct patient care in a high-quality urgent care setting, including pediatric and adult patients as appropriate, and lead by example in productivity, quality, and patient experience.
- 15% Clinic Leadership – Oversee providers and staff, recruit and onboard clinicians, and foster a positive, engaged team culture.
10% Clinic Operations & Quality – Champion evidence‑based care, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
10% Scholarly Activity – Support clinical research, education, and innovation at the clinic level.
5% Academic Leadership – Encourage scholarly work related to urgent care, quality, pediatrics, or medical education.

Requirements Who We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking a physician who enjoys leading teams, improving systems, and caring for diverse patient populations.
Required:
- MD or DO
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or a related specialty
- At least 2 years of urgent care, emergency medicine, or pediatric acute care experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Eligible for Colorado medical licensure
- BLS certification
Preferred:
- Experience supervising advanced practice providers
- Prior leadership of clinic- or division-level initiatives
- Interest in education, quality improvement, pediatric care, or research
