Overview
Physician (Gastroenterology) Section Chief at Veterans in Healthcare. This leadership role is within the Gastroenterology Section/Medical Service. Eligible to receive a University of Colorado Denver faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine.
Responsibilities- Continue and further the development of the endoscopy program and clinical needs of the service.
- Proficient in standard gastroenterologic procedures including upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy.
- ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic therapy of Barrett's esophagus, endoscopic mucosal resection of the upper and lower GI tract, and placement of luminal stents for palliation depending on candidate training and experience.
- Engage in basic, clinical, and/or outcomes research and submit work for national meetings and publication in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Attend in the endoscopy lab, inpatient consult service, outpatient clinic, and other clinical services.
- Teach medical students, interns and residents in Internal Medicine and fellows in Gastroenterology.
- Participate in the educational activities of the Gastroenterology Division, UC Denver.
- Participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and other administrative duties as assigned.
Tour of duty:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 4:30. Candidate must be willing to work weekends, irregular hours, and extended hours. May be placed or temporarily assigned to other related services and/or locations as necessary.
- Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.
- Must pass pre-employment examination.
- Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.
- Background and/or Security Investigation required.
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Board Certified/Eligible Gastroenterology.
- U.S. citizenship
- English language proficiency
- Must be board certified or eligible
- Physical standards; a pre-employment physical may be required
- Liscensure and Registration: current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States or District of Columbia
- Educational requirements:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a school approved by VA for licensure purposes - First-Year Residency (Internship):
Completed a first-year residency or equivalent approved by VA
