Led by the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE), the Environmental Education Corps (ee Corps) Ameri Corps Program places Ameri Corps members at organizations throughout Colorado to increase environmental literacy for PreK‑12 students and implement the Colorado Environmental Education Plan. This position will be located at Bluff Lake Nature Center in Denver, CO. The center is a nonprofit agency that owns and manages an urban wildlife refuge and outdoor classroom, committed to educational equity and making nature accessible to all.

During February to April the role will support field‑trip facilitation, the new visitors lobby program, and summer camp as needed. From May to August the Summer Camp Assistant Director will serve alongside the Summer Camp Director to coordinate, prepare, and facilitate 10 weeks of summer camp programming for 500+ campers ages 5‑12 and junior counselors ages 13‑17.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate field trips, visitors lobby space, and summer camp programming
  • Serve with the Summer Camp Director to develop curriculum and programs
  • Support the Summer Camp Director with hiring, coordinating, and supervising the summer camp counselors and junior counselors over the 10‑week summer camp
  • Track progress and collect evaluation data for the program’s performance measures
  • Attend all required ee Corps/Ameri Corps orientations, meetings, and trainings
  • Complete and submit all necessary ee Corps paperwork and reports by predetermined deadlines
  • Some local travel required and occasional statewide travel possible
  • Assist in the organization of paperwork and program supplies
  • Assist in keeping site facilities clean and updated
  • Evaluate education programs using assessment data from students, teacher/student feedback, current best practices in pedagogy and science standards, as well as observations and first‑hand teaching experience
