Help Inspire the Next Generation of Space Enthusiasts—Volunteer as an Academic Mentor
Join to apply for the Help Inspire the Next Generation of Space Enthusiasts—Volunteer as an Academic Mentor role at Community Resources, Inc.
Community Resources, Inc. provides educational opportunities to more than 100 schools and 70,000 students each year. To accomplish this, CRI calls upon the knowledge, energy and commitment of hundreds of volunteers from the community. CRI brings volunteers into classrooms to share information and expertise on hundreds of topics. CRI also creates family reading, math and science nights that bring students and their parents back to school to have fun learning together.
The Academic Mentors program matches gifted students with professionals in the community in areas of career and curricular interest. Finally, CRI develops and conducts career fairs, science fairs, multi-cultural festivals and other customised special events for elementary, middle and high schools.
Community Resources’ Academic Mentors Project creates opportunities for high‑achieving, ambitious 5th – 12th grade Denver Public School students who have a passion or interest in a particular topic to connect with community volunteers who share the same passion.
The program is currently recruiting a mentor with a passion for space and astronomy to work with a 7th grade student eager to learn more about the universe. Volunteers are asked to commit a total of six hours over the course of 3 to 6 meetings. All mentorships begin and end in the current school year.
