About This Job:
Dates:
January 5, 2026 - March 27, 2026. A Long-Term Substitute is responsible for teaching appropriate grade level standard-based curriculum to students, following school/district approved curriculum while the classroom teacher is absent for an extended period of time.

- Salary: $30.00 per hour.

- Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement.
- Monitor, supervise, coordinate, and enforce rules of conduct and behavior of assigned students and reinforce positive behaviors in accordance with school and district policy.
- Observe, evaluate, report, and record students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Prepare educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
- Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
- Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
- Prepare, administer, assign, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using district software.
- Prepare student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.
- Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems and coordinate instructional efforts.
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
- Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. for additional information regarding specific requirements and qualifications for the various subject areas (DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days).
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
- Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
