Overview

Lecturer - Painting & Drawing at the University of Colorado Denver, College of Arts & Media, Visual Arts Department. This pool will be used to fill temporary, non-tenure track Lecturer positions in Painting and Drawing. Appointments are part-time (less than 50%) and made semester-by-semester; assignments may include no more than two courses per semester. This posting does not necessarily reflect a current open position.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses ranging from foundation-level drawing to advanced Painting and Drawing courses, using traditional and contemporary practices.

  • Participate in faculty jury processes to evaluate portfolios of prospective Illustration students annually in the fall semester.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Broad knowledge of the history of art, modern, and contemporary art

  • Ability to work independently

Minimum Requirements
  • MFA degree in studio art

  • Strong skills in teaching both objective/perceptual (perspective and figure drawing) and non-objective/conceptual problems

  • Ability to teach and work with a diverse student body

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of college-level teaching experience

  • Multidisciplinary arts practice

Salary and Benefits

The salary range is established at $5,150 per 3-credit semester course. The University provides a full benefits package. Information on benefits and total compensation is available from University resources.
