Assistant Professor, Architectural Technology, Provisional Faculty

Purpose/Summary

We are seeking a dedicated faculty member to teach a full range of introductory to advanced Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) courses, both in-person and hybrid or online formats, and to contribute to the department in administration and program development.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach face‑to‑face, hybrid, or online coursework in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction.
  • Develop and deliver instruction using the latest tools and student‑centered pedagogies.
  • Collaborate with programs and participate cross‑functionally within the institution.
  • Assume leadership and administrative responsibilities as assigned, including program assessment and grant participation.
  • Provide faculty mentoring and support wrap‑around services to help students succeed.
  • Participate in department coordination duties such as hiring and supervising adjunct instructors, mentoring them, and acting as department chair if needed.
  • Secure an initial Career and Technical Education credential that demonstrates 2,000–4,000 relevant work‑experience hours.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in architectural history, urban design or planning, landscape architecture, interior design, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, construction management, industrial design, or building science.
  • Successful teaching experience in architecture at a community college or university.
  • Proven experience in multiple modalities: asynchronous, hybrid, synchronous remote, and in‑person.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach inclusively with student‑centered, active learning, and equity‑mindful approaches.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Career and Technical Education credential through the Colorado Community College System.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of innovative approaches to utilizing AI.
  • Established architectural hand‑drawing and sketching skills.
  • Master’s or five‑year bachelor’s degree in architecture.
  • Current professional architectural license(s).
  • LEED Accredited Professional certification.
  • Experience in North American building design and construction techniques and assemblies.
  • History of professional experience in collaborative architectural design processes.
  • Proven capacity to build relationships with industry partners or professional organizations.
Equipment Used

Learning management software (e.g., Desire2

Learn, Blackboard, Canvas) and classroom equipment such as document camera, personal computer/laptop, and whiteboard.
