Instructional Designer II Denver Seminary

General Statement of Job Function

Develop effective online, blended, and web-enhanced courses in collaboration with seminary faculty and staff. Assist faculty with the technical and administrative aspects of online course production and delivery. Assist with LMS technical support when needed. Develop training and resources that prepare seminary faculty to facilitate their blended and online courses effectively, and which equip students to complete assigned learning activities successfully.

Prepare classes for upcoming terms in adherence to institutional and departmental standards and policies.

Essential Functions

Instructional Design / Course Development : Guide faculty course designers through the instructional design process to create, revise, and update online, blended, and web-enhanced seminary courses that are characterized by learner‑centered instruction, active learning, and adherence to principles of adult education.

Assist faculty in the technical and administrative aspects of course design. Direct the production of original course content. Work under the direction of the Director of Ed Tech to schedule and manage the logistics of online and blended course development.

Instructional Support for online and blended Courses : Collaborate with the Ed Tech Team and instructors to prepare courses for the upcoming semester. Provide course‑specific technical and instructional support. Create and revise teaching notes for assigned courses.

Faculty Development :
Collaborate with ET Team to develop resources, protocols, and training modules to train faculty in the principles of adult education, learner‑centered teaching, and effective facilitation practices for the online, blended, and web‑enhanced environments. Conduct training in both formal settings and during informal opportunities.

Development of Educational Technology Protocols and Systems :
Work with the Educational Technology Team to develop, update, and implement protocols impacting instructional design processes, course assessment, learning technologies, and department workflows.

Technical Support :
Assist the LMS Administrator in supporting faculty and students using the seminary LMS; fill in for the LMS Administrator in his / her absence.

Education / Training

Master’s Degree or equivalent experience to support the training of faculty.

4 years’ work experience in higher education preferred.

4 years’ work experience in Instructional Design field preferred.

Qualifications / Skills

Committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ required and a lifestyle consistent with the Seminary’s Community Values and Behavioral Commitments.

Agreement with Denver Seminary’s statement of faith.

Working knowledge of adult education principles and blended course design.

Detail‑oriented and strong problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Excellent interpersonal and online communication skills.

Ability to see interruptions as opportunities.

Ability to quickly learn new software.

Aptitude for technical writing documentation.

Learning Management system skills required;
Moodle experience preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, HTML, media software, and digital video.

Graphic design skills preferred.
