Position OverviewAs a wind turbine blade repair technician you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of wind turbine blades. Blade repair technicians use rope access and suspended platforms to complete repair and maintenance work scopes. If in‑air work is not possible due to weather, time is spent on reports, inspections and training. Technicians may also perform other wind turbine repairs that require rope access or non‑rope access work.
Responsibilities- Climb wind turbine towers daily wearing all required safety equipment and use rope access techniques to inspect, maintain and repair blades.
- Understand electrical and mechanical functions of a wind turbine generator and associated equipment to safely perform lock‑out‑tag‑out (LOTO) duties.
- Use power tools for delicate grinding on composite structures.
- Use safe work practices when handling chemicals and glass fibers for composite repair.
- Perform inspections and repairs on blades and related equipment.
- Complete required reporting on work, inspections, etc.
- Learn and use software systems to manage work reporting and other company business.
- Maintain company tooling and equipment.
- Work a 40‑plus hour week and be subject to scheduled and unscheduled overtime; schedules may vary peak work periods.
- Drive safely to sites, towing a trailer when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to travel up to 100% of the time.
- SPRAT, IRATA, or equivalent rope access certification and/or 3+ years of fiberglass experience.
- Must work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders unaided, and work suspended from two rope systems or platforms over 80 m (250 ft).
- Move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 lb).
- Weight not to exceed 120 kg (265 lb) excluding equipment.
- Ability to rappel from a wind turbine.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- One year of technical experience (mechanical, electrical, composite repair, etc.) and/or technical education.
32.73 – 51.58 USD hourly
Bonus: 0% – 10% of applicable bonus program.
