Mechanical Engineering Supervisor – ZAP Engineering & Construction Services, Inc.
Lakewood, Colorado | Full‑time, Exempt |
Work Schedule:
Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (hours may vary with business needs). Reports to the Director, Mechanical. Travel required up to 20%.
- Mechanical Engineering
- Produces equipment datasheets and specifications.
- Develops and reviews pipe specifications and ensures pump/hydraulic and equipment sizing calculations are accurate.
- Creates pipes, valves, and fittings Bills of Material (BOMs).
- Performs equipment, pipe, and valve technical evaluations on contractor bid packages.
- Coordinates with other discipline engineers and designers.
- Construction Documents
- Produces line and equipment lists.
- Provides 3D modeling support and isometric reviews.
- Reviews construction drawings and documents.
- Construction Support
- Conducts site walk‑downs and as‑built reviews to support construction efforts.
- Works with contractors on RFIs, project cost and bid packages, and mechanical scope of work documents.
- Stress Analysis
- Develops CAESAR II models and performs stress analyses.
- Generates stress analysis reports.
- Project Quality Assurance & Control
- Conducts technical review of discipline engineering deliverables.
- Performs discipline engineering tasks within the mechanical knowledge base.
- Mentoring
- Acts as Engineer‑of‑Record and reviews/seals designs created by other team members.
- Provides training and mentoring to less experienced engineers and designers.
- Assists with additional duties as assigned.
Standard hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday (40 hour week). Evening, weekend, or overtime work may be required as business needs dictate.
Qualifications- Education
:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required). - Experience
:
Minimum 10 years of discipline‑specific engineering practice on multi‑discipline project teams (required). - Licenses
:
Professional Engineering license (required). - Technical Skills
:
Advanced knowledge of HYSYS, Unisim, Pro Max, VMG Symmetry, and Excel; proficient with CAESAR II, isometric reviews, and 3D modeling tools. - Communication and Leadership
:
Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills; proven leadership experience managing teams and driving cross‑functional projects. - Other Requirements
:
Valid, active driver’s license; ability to maintain a good driving record; willing to travel up to 20%.
- Responsible for supervising at least two full‑time employees or equivalent. Makes personnel decisions including hiring, disciplinary action, overtime, pay, and terminations.
- Operates with minimal guidance; sets own goals and determines methods to achieve results.
- Typical office environment with frequent interruptions and high noise levels.
- Regular sitting, use of hands, talking, hearing; occasional standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 25 lb.
- Vision requirements: close, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
