The Opportunity:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in engineering and design of the HVAC and plumbing systems in various types of facilities.

The Team:
The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions for Black & Veatch’s Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial market sectors. You will work on projects across the globe, from small community improvements to large-scale initiatives.

• Design and Construction Activities for HVAC and Plumbing systems.
• Collaborate on Project Delivery Methods, including traditional Design-Bid-Build and alternative conceptual approaches.
• Engage with facility types such as power generation buildings, substations, oil & gas structures, and energy storage buildings.
• Contribute to studies and CFD analyses as part of project delivery.
• Support energy audits, system performance reviews, and energy compliance calculations.

• Basic knowledge of NFPA standards.
• Experience with computer-generated HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, and equipment sizing.
• Technical submittal review and bid review processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam Revu.
• LEED AP certification and experience obtaining LEED certification for industrial buildings.
• Extensive experience with large‑scale water-cooled chillers is preferred.
• ICC, ASHRAE Handbooks/Standards, ASPE design handbooks, and SMACNA Standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program (home country or practicing country) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
• Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) as applicable by law.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.

• Typical office environment; may require site visits with occasional physical tasks.
• Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days, based on manager discretion and work assignments.
