The Opportunity:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in engineering and design of the HVAC and plumbing systems in various types of facilities.
The Team:
The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions for Black & Veatch’s Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial market sectors. You will work on projects across the globe, from small community improvements to large-scale initiatives.
- Design and Construction Activities for HVAC and Plumbing systems.
- Collaborate on Project Delivery Methods, including traditional Design-Bid-Build and alternative conceptual approaches.
- Engage with facility types such as power generation buildings, substations, oil & gas structures, and energy storage buildings.
- Contribute to studies and CFD analyses as part of project delivery.
- Support energy audits, system performance reviews, and energy compliance calculations.
- Basic knowledge of NFPA standards.
- Experience with computer-generated HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, and equipment sizing.
- Technical submittal review and bid review processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam Revu.
- LEED AP certification and experience obtaining LEED certification for industrial buildings.
- Extensive experience with large‑scale water-cooled chillers is preferred.
- ICC, ASHRAE Handbooks/Standards, ASPE design handbooks, and SMACNA Standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program (home country or practicing country) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) as applicable by law.
- Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.

Work Environment and Schedule- Typical office environment; may require site visits with occasional physical tasks.
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days, based on manager discretion and work assignments.
