Position OverviewThis role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Responsibilities- Analysis of load path from conceptual to drawing release and hardware creation
- Collaborate with teams during the design process to ensure we are designing an efficient structure, cutting down on unnecessary design iterations.
- Communicate effectively with engineers and managers to make sure the team understands analysis results and potential design improvements
- Constantly drive toward improvements in the efficiency and quality of the design and analysis process.
- Analysis of composite wrapped pressure vessels.
- Integration of structural analysis with loads and dynamics environments
- Finite Element Model development, refinement, validation, and correlation to tests
- Strength checks and analysis report generation
- Test and verification plan and report generation
- Support configuration development and trade studies
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace or civil engineering
- Level 3 Requirement: 6+ years of experience
- Solid foundation of structural static/dynamic fundamentals
- Capable in both static and non‑linear finite element modelling.
- Experience with the stress analysis of composites and metallic components.
- Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics‑based analytical methods (hand calculations, in‑house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical tools)
- Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle, in some of the following:
External loads, Classical Analysis Method, Vibro‑acoustic analysis, Thermal loads, Analysis using Abaqus and/or Nastran, Ansys, Hyperworks. - Passion for spacecraft structural/environmental loads development/validation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- 8+ years of experience in aerospace or space industry
- Vehicle load path definition and strength analysis
- Analysis of COPV's using Abaqus.
- Manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization & allowables development
- Experience testing materials, joints, components and vehicles
- Experience with Pro Engineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or greater
- Experience with Human spaceflight
- Experience with mechanical systems
- Experience in fatigue and fracture mechanics
