OverviewThe Instrumentation and Controls Project Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and management of Crusoe.ai’s critical control systems for our data centers and infrastructure. You will oversee all aspects of the BMS lifecycle, including design, installation, optimization, and maintenance, ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our facilities. This role requires expertise in controls systems, data analysis, and energy optimization, with a strong focus on delivering scalable and sustainable solutions.
WhatYou’ll Be Working On
- Lead the design and development of BMS/EPMS controls for data center design, commissioning, and operations, ensuring integration with HVAC, electrical, and monitoring systems
- Collaborate with and lead engineers, contractors, trade partners, and equipment manufacturers to author scope of works, drive deliverables, and ensure seamless installation and commissioning of BMS/EPMS systems
- Oversee the operation and optimization of BMS systems to ensure maximum energy efficiency and system reliability
- Conduct regular system audits to identify and address performance issues
- Leverage BMS data to monitor facility performance, generate insights, and recommend improvements
- Provide leadership with actionable reports on system health, energy consumption, and operational efficiency
- Lead and mentor a team of BMS/EPMS technicians and engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
- Develop training programs to enhance team expertise in controls systems and troubleshooting
- Ensure BMS systems comply with industry standards, regulations, and Crusoe’s sustainability goals
- Integrate energy-saving measures and renewable energy strategies into BMS operations
- You have experience in a hyperscale data center environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., Certified Energy Manager, LEED, or BAS Technician) is a plus
- Professional experience in building management systems, electrical power management systems, controls engineering, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing BMS/EPMS systems for data centers or similar critical infrastructure
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical systems, PLCs, DDCs, and industrial control systems
- Proficiency in BMS platforms such as Schneider Electric, Siemens, Honeywell, Inductive Automation Ignition, or Tridium Niagara
- Experience with protocols like BACnet, Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT, and Lon Works
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and collaborate across departments to meet organizational goals
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Track record of identifying and resolving complex BMS challenges with innovative solutions

Compensation will be paid in the range of $165,000 - $200,000 base salary. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
