Role

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Discipline Lead to act as the single point of accountability for all electrical engineering and design across the company. This is a true discipline-head position — you will own standards, quality, man-hour budgets, resource allocation, and final sign-off on every electrical deliverable that leaves the electrical group.

Key Project Types You Will Lead (Current and Awarded Work)
  • Carbon capture facilities – 500 to 1,000 metric tonnes per day CO₂
  • Gas turbine and reciprocating engine power generation – 10 MW to 100 MW
  • Natural gas processing plants – up to 100 MMscfd
  • High-pressure natural gas compression stations – up to 200 MMscfd
  • Helium recovery, purification, compression and liquefaction plants

All projects are greenfield and brownfield in Canada and the U.S., with heavy emphasis on hazardous-area design (Class I Div 1 & 2 / Zone 0, 1,
2), IECEx/ATEX alongside NEC/CEC compliance, and integration with large variable-frequency drives (5–40 MW), high-voltage substations (up to 230 kV), and DCS/SCADA systems.

Responsibilities
  • Full technical and budgetary authority over the entire electrical department (engineers + designers)
  • Establish and maintain company electrical standards, specifications, and tools.
  • Lead or personally perform power system studies (load flow, short‑circuit, protection coordination, arc‑flash, transient motor starting, harmonics)
  • Oversee substation design, MV/LV switch gear specification, large VFD packages, emergency/standby generation, and grounding grids, heat‑trace systems
  • Resource planning, hiring, mentoring, and performance reviews for all electrical staff
  • Client‑facing technical authority on all electrical matters
  • Final review and professional seal on all electrical deliverables
Required Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer:
Must currently hold (or immediately qualify for) P.Eng. registration in at least one Canadian province AND Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in at least one U.S. state → Candidates already holding both P.Eng. (APEGA or equivalent) and U.S. P.E. will be given strong priority
  • Minimum 10 years of direct electrical design and engineering experience on mid‑to‑large oil & gas, gas processing, CO₂ capture, helium, or power generation projects
  • Verifiable project experience on at least three of the five project types listed above (CO₂ capture, 10–100 MW power gen, 100 MMscfd gas plants, 200 MMscfd compression, helium purification/liquefaction)
  • Expert‑level knowledge of CSA C22.1/CEC, NFPA 70/NEC, IEEE, API, and IEC standards in hazardous locations
  • Proven track record acting as discipline lead or department head in an EPC environment
Preferred (Nice‑to‑Have)
  • Experience with carbon capture amine or membrane plants
  • Familiarity with helium process electrical loads (cryogenic compressors, expanders, cold boxes)
  • Previous work in both Canada and U.S. regulatory environments
What We Offer
  • True discipline ownership with direct reporting to senior leadership
  • Opportunity to build and lead the electrical group during rapid growth phase
  • Highly competitive compensation, annual bonus tied to project success, 401(k) match, and relocation assistance if required

If you are a registered P.Eng./P.E. with proven discipline‑lead experience on the exact types of energy‑transition and gas projects we execute, we want to hear from you immediately.
