Overview

This role is in our integrated Architecture/Engineering practice in Denver, CO, leading a team of building mechanical and plumbing engineers and designers on complex projects across Healthcare, Education, Science, Water/Wastewater, Federal Government, and Industrial sectors.
The Mechanical Business Class Lead will guide the mechanical/plumbing team, drive strategic vision and growth, and provide technical leadership. Secondary duties include personnel- and business-management functions typical for a large A/E firm delivering complex projects.
ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Mechanical Business Class Lead
, responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership to the mechanical/plumbing team, identify and recruit additional team members, and set strategic direction for growth and evolution of the team.
- Provide technical guidance to team members and participate in project reviews for code compliance and quality assurance.
- Oversee project production, monitor scope, schedule, and budget to ensure successful delivery.
- Coordinate mechanical/plumbing production work with other disciplines within an integrated architecture/engineering team.
- Take roles as Project Manager and/or Mechanical Lead on selected projects.
- Mentor and coach team members, guide training and professional development, and lead annual reviews.
- Engage in business development activities, including contributions to marketing, proposals, and interviews.
- Perform other duties as needed to advance the team and HDR.
- Develop the strategic vision for the Mechanical/Plumbing team in collaboration with other engineering and architecture leaders.
- Motivate and inspire the team to achieve goals.
- Attract, recruit, and hire outstanding new team members.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external clients.
- Contribute to marketing, proposals, and interviews as part of business development.
- Mentor and coach team members, support training and professional development, and lead annual reviews.
- Take roles as Project Manager and/or Mechanical Lead on selected projects.

- Implement and monitor quality processes to produce high-quality work products.
- Coordinate production work with other disciplines on an integrated team.
- Participate in agency reviews for code compliance.
- Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document sessions with project team.
- Conduct QC and technical reviews and provide guidance on active projects.
- Perform other duties to advance the team and HDR.
- Bachelor’s degree in a professional field (Architecture, Engineering, or related)
- 10 years of experience
- Committed to quality and HDR values
- Maintains a professional or engineering registration and related technical experience
- Experience in development and management of diverse teams
- Collaborates with area leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business-class efforts
- Active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture
