YOUR MISSION

True Anomaly is seeking an innovative RF Engineering Manager to lead a small, agile team for the design, development, integration, and testing of spacecraft RF communications systems. As an engineering lead, you will be responsible for driving high level architecture development and the design, implementation, and testing of RF systems across our space and ground hardware, with a forward looking perspective to bring key differentiation capabilities to the platform.

This role will encompass technical contribution and people management. You will work closely with a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the highest level of quality, reliability, and performance of our spacecraft. You will own the full lifecycle of your system, from concept through on-orbit operation. As manager, you will be responsible for growing and advocating for your team, developing and maintaining schedules and budgets, leading technical trades, and ensuring on-time delivery of your product.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own technical direction for spacecraft RF communications, including radios/modems, filters, amplifiers, antennas, security, and licensing
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers developing spacecraft RF communications solutions
  • Oversee end-to-end RF comms lifecycle: requirements definition, design, analysis, budgets, trade studies, hardware procurement, integration, test, and licensing
  • Participate in future looking trades that feed into rapid design, development, and testing of high-reliability RF and communications systems for spacecraft engineering and development efforts
  • Develop and refine analytical tools including link budgets, ranging budgets, compatibility assessment, antenna pattern generation, and RF scattering analysis
  • Oversee the selection and integration of RF components, including Software Defined Radios, amplifiers, filters, couplers, switches, and antennas into spacecraft systems
  • Develop and maintain documentation for RF systems and components, including design specifications, test plans, and operating procedures
  • Communicate product development status and issues with leadership and stakeholders
  • Continuously improve RF Engineering processes and practices to drive innovation and efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in RF system design and development for aerospace applications
  • Demonstrated experience with RF systems design and necessary analysis to show compliant solutions
  • Deep experience with spacecraft communication systems, including S-band, X-band, Ka-band, and other frequency bands as applicable
  • Expertise in satellite communication link optimization, including Doppler shift compensation and error correction coding
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and deliver complex hardware on schedule.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree in aerospace, electrical engineering or related field
  • Experience with LEO, GEO, or Cislunar/Deep Space missions
