Advanced Energy is looking for a Test Development Engineer to join our team in Ft. Collins, Colorado. The Test Engineer designs, develops, and implements cost‑effective solutions for manufacturing tests for several high frequency, high voltage circuits and systems that ensure high quality standards. The position performs a variety of technical, multi‑disciplined tasks early in the Product Development Process to provide timely, flexible, universal tools and processes.
The Test Engineer makes knowledgeable, data‑driven decisions and employs innovative technologies with optimal control and maximum speed and flexibility.
- Ensure testability and serviceability of new product designs, providing feedback to design teams addressing opportunities for defects in manufacturing and field use
- Prepare test and diagnostic programs, design test fixtures and equipment, complete specifications and procedures for new products and for product design changes throughout the product’s lifecycle
- Accurately estimate project costs and schedules associated with implementing test solutions
- Own test requirements from the vendor, to shipment, to the customer
- Verify products meet their functional requirements – including design verification and manufacturing screens
- Analyze capabilities and ensure control of critical parameters of products and test equipment
- Regularly working in lab, office and manufacturing facilities with power output up to 60 kW.
- Travel to international manufacturing and/or development locations may be required throughout the product’s lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing test environment
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to influence design team decisions
- Demonstrated experience solving complex technical problems with minimal assistance
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Expertise in programming automation and data collection
- Object‑Oriented Programming Skills
- 6‑sigma or equivalent statistical, problem‑solving methodology
- Programming experience in NI Labview and Test Stand, C++, SQL, and/or Python
- Experience with a variety of General‑Purpose Test Equipment use and automation. Including:
Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, DAQs, and Switches. - Source Code control experience.
- Experience in power supply testing or design.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant engineering discipline
