We are currently seeking a Senior Managing Engineer or Principal Engineer in the field of Energy Transition for our Thermal Sciences Practice in locations including Natick, MA;
Menlo Park, CA;
Atlanta, GA;
Houston, TX;
Chicago, IL;
Bowie, MD;
Denver, CO; and Phoenix, AZ.
In this role, you will work as part of a team to help our clients solve challenging technical problems which are often urgent, high‑profile, and multi‑disciplinary. You will also be responsible for expanding our capabilities in renewable energy, alternative energy, energy storage, and energy transition. A strong technical background in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics is required. Career growth involves increasing project management duties and substantial responsibility for generating revenue and client relations, as well as hiring technical staff.
Responsibilities- Provide consulting services and develop business across a wide variety of systems, components and facilities, including wind power, solar power, hydrogen systems, alternative fuels, energy storage, energy transmission, and power plants.
- Gather and synthesize information from field investigations, experimental testing, document reviews, and engineering analysis, and effectively convey technical conclusions.
- Promote Exponent’s expertise through client meetings, conference presentations, thought‑leadership articles, white papers, and seminars.
- Effectively manage and develop a group of highly motivated junior consultants.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- 10+ years of related work experience.
- Professional Engineering license preferred.
- Significant business development experience with a proven track record.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment; strong mentoring skills with technical staff.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate findings in reports and presentations to clients or in public forums.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and assertively.
- Strong project‑management and leadership experience; commitment to professional development evidenced by peer‑reviewed publications, technical conference participation, and licensing or certifications.
- Ability to travel on short notice.

CompensationBase salary range for this position is USD $ – USD $ per year, with additional base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
