Power Transmission and Distribution Health and Safety Lead
- Review design submittals to ensure safety‑in‑design features are properly integrated.
- Provide health and safety expertise to project teams throughout design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Assess health and safety risks with project managers, evaluate potential impacts, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor site supervision consultant performance, verify corrective actions are completed, and ensure contractor programs meet requirements.
- Attend and evaluate contractor safety orientations and training programs.
- Review reports from site supervision consultants and safety officers; investigate incidents, analyze trends, take corrective actions, and order work stoppages when necessary.
- Share lessons learned with contractors to promote continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with project teams and designers to resolve complex safety issues.
- Prepare annual resource plans to provide adequate HSE support for all projects.
- Review and report on health and safety performance against established KPIs.
- Conduct spot inspections and implement a monthly safety recognition program.
- Champion a culture of safety across all program elements.
- Support professional development initiatives with health and safety training.
- Travel regularly to project sites along new transmission line routes to oversee safety activities as work progresses.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science (Loss Prevention, Risk Management, Fire Protection), or related field with significant HSE experience, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ HSE field experience in Power Transmission & Distribution construction.
- Strong knowledge of industry HSE standards and specifications.
- Familiarity with building construction, materials, systems, and trade practices.
- Proven ability to analyze information, identify trends, and develop / implement action plans to improve project performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to assess risks, evaluate solutions, and make sound recommendations.
Pay range: $95,000-$170,000 per year starting base salary
